The Duchy Academy Trust was launched in February 2014. It is a dynamic collaboration of three schools; Boyton Primary, Callington Primary and Lewannick Primary. All three schools work together to raise standards.
Senior leaders from all three schools meet on a weekly basis to plan, to monitor, to moderate work, interrogate data or share ideas. Staff share best practice across all schools. Three ‘Leaders of Teaching and Learning’ coordinate opportunities for all staff to learn from each other. The schools benefit financially through shared contracts managed by the Principal Business Manager. Twelve directors meet together on a half-termly basis; please visit their page for a who’s who.
At the heart of The Duchy Academy Trust are the children of the schools. Opportunities from the collaboration so far have included; sports tournaments, leading assemblies in other schools, days’ activities for gifted and talented pupils, full scale ‘evacuations’ from one school to another as part of a World War II topic, school council get-togethers and children from one school being ‘dragons’ in a Dragons’ Den activity in another. Coming soon is a visit to London involving three of the schools together.
The Duchy Academy Trust schools have just begun working together, but with a shared ethos and the strong commitment of all four schools, the future looks exciting.
