At Boyton Primary School we have and are further implementing a Spiral Curriculum that builds a child's skills and knowledge sequentially and developmentally across their schooling, grounded in the National Curriculum.
We believe that fundamentally, children should be taught the skills and disciplinary knowledge to enable them to understand their world around them and be able to aspire and explore it to their fullest potential.
Our curriculum is broad and is designed to allow children to thrive and progress across it irrespective of starting points and is fit to prepare them to be successful at subsequent steps on their journey.
At Boyton Primary School we wholeheartedly believe that children should be at the centre of their learning. Enquiry questions are chosen for foundation subjects to inspire, intrigue and deepen understanding of knowledge and skills. Half termly overviews are written with an intent, implementation - a progression of lessons and then an impact for each subject.
The following documents also lay out and explain the progression of knowledge and skills that the children will learn in each subject.
Core Subjects – Reading, Writing and Maths
The following documents show the progression of knowledge and skills that children at Boyton will learn from EYFS through to the end of Year 6. We plan for a spiral curriculum whereby children build on previous knowledge they have learnt.
